THE POOL OF SILOAM
We cannot complete talking about the Water Projects of Hezekiah without discussing the Pool of Siloam. To remind you, Hezekiah's tunnel brought the water from the Gihon Spring inside the city walls. In addition, in order to collect the water, Hezekiah built the Silom Pool. The location of this pool is the lowest place in the city to allow gravity to do its work.
Of course the people used the water to drink as well as all other day to day needs. Moreover, they used this pool as a 'Mikve' (purifying pool). Those who wanted to climb up to the Holy Temple, had to first purify their body and some of them used the Siloam Pool to do so. In order to climb up from the Siloam Pool to the Holy Temple, they walked through the Pilgrims Tunnel (my previous post titled: 'Pilgrims Tunnel' discusses this in detail).
The Siloam Pool is mentioned in the Bible and in the Book of John: the miracle that Jesus performed to the blind man.
This entire area is full of new archeological discoveries and extremely interesting and is part of the City of David, that became to be the capital of Israel more than 3,000 years ago.
This is our chance to touch the Bible and you'll have an opportunity to do so during the Relive the Bible Tours.
A big thanks, again, to Pastor Andy Cook for this great video. Enjoy the video.
