NEWS FROM THE PAST - HEROD'S PALACE A few years ago, in an excavation close by the Tower of David and the Citadel, the palace of King Herrod the Great was found. The information that we have comes from the book of Josephus Flavius that describes very accurately the city at the time of Herod and Jesus. Herod ruled between 36 BCE to 4 BCE. After Herod passed away, the Governor of Judea Province came to live in this Palace. The fact that Pontius Pilot stayed in the Palace that was previously built by Herod, opens up the possibility that the meeting between Jesus and Pontius Pilate, was at Herod's palace and not, as we traditionally believed, in Antonia's Fortress.
