This is the 2nd post about the City of David, following my earlier post from last week where I discussed King David’s palace and city.
This video offers us details about the archaeological findings in the City of David as well as additional information of a 2nd dig about King Solomon, David’s son. This 2nd dig is in the Northern part of the City of David, an area that is called “Haofel”, located between Temple Mt. and the City of David. This is where Solomon’s Walls were dug and found, the walls that surrounded Temple Mt. and the City of David together.
Nearby, part of the walls that were built by Ezra and Nehemiah approximately 500 years later, were dug up. This was at the time they returned back from Babylon after being exiled there, to build the 2nd Holy Temple in Jerusalem and much more.
This video represents a unique point of view – that of an archaeologist. Dr. Ayelet Mazar, the archaeologist in charge of these diggings, is a 3rd generation of archaeologists. Her grandfather and father as well as she, all dug in Jerusalem and around. Her perspective is very interesting as she practically ‘grew into’ these diggings – participating in these excavations from an early age alongside her grandfather and father. There is no doubt we will see more videos with more findings from her diggings in the near future. She constantly refers to the Bible in every excavation she leads.
I’d like to thank CBN Documentaries for this video.
