The Upper Room on Mt. Zion
This post will discuss the Last Supper that took place in the Upper Room on Mt. Zion.
Jesus and his disciples came to celebrate Passover, in the same way that the Jews celebrate up until today: a big meal with wine and Matza bread. As he served the Matza bread to his disciples he said: this bread that you eat is my body and this wine that you drink is my blood. That’s how the communion ceremony began.
During the Last Supper meal, around the same table two prophecies take place. In the 1st, Jesus predicts his betrayal by one of the Apostles present. In the 2nd one, he foretells that before the next morning (before the rooster calls) Peter will deny knowing him three times.
This event of the Last Supper is an extremely momentous one in the Christian faith.
Today, it is custom to regard the hall built by the Crusaders as the Hall of the Last Supper on Mt. Zion.
