Magdala – Hometown of Mary Magdalene

Remnants of a Jewish village named Magadala were found near the Northern Coast of the Sea of Galilee. These remnants included: a synagogue, a ritual bath very typical to that period and the industry area of this village despite the fact that most of its inhabitants were fisherman.

We also have documented evidence from Josephus Flavius, where he describes the war between the Romans and the Jews and that the people of Magdala escaped to the Sea of Galilee. He continues to write that the Romans came after them, and killed them till the Sea of Galilee turned red.

Magdala is also mentioned in the New Testament as the place where Mary was born and lived and where Jesus healed her by releasing her from 7 demons.

After Jesus released her from the 7 demons, she became one of the most important disciples, and according to Mark ch:16-9 she was the first to see Jesus on the Sunday after he was resurrected.

Thank you Pastor Mike (Todd) Fink for this video.
