The Bible Comes Alive - Game changers from the Bible – part 3 of 3
When visiting Israel you can literally feel how the Bible comes alive with every step you take. Every stone & every site tells you a story from the Bible. So…
The Scrolls of the Dead Sea are one of THE most important archaeology findings – truly a game changer.
For those who need proof, these scrolls prove that the Bible has not changed over the centuries. These scrolls include many books from the Bible, some up to 30 copies. All in all, 14,000 scrolls were found, most of them written on parchment, some on copper, and some on lead.
This discovery of these scrolls is more than finding the Bible as they contain books that are not in the Bible. For example: the Book of Judith, the Book of the Holy Temple, the book of rules & regulations by which the Essenes lived by, and more.
As the “People of the Book”, we are very proud to have these ancient copies of the Bible. We have been named the “People of the Book” due to the fact that we have been studying, writing and reading the Bible for over 3,000 years. Therefore, we view the Bible not only as a Holy Book but also as an historical document of the Jewish people.
The Bible as we know it today was closed and finalized in the city of Tiberias in the 2nd century AD with the Book of Haggai as its last book.
Most of my tours include a stop and visit in the Israel Museum and in the Shrine of the Book, as well as Qumran – the place (caves) where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found and where the Essenes community flourished.
If you missed my post and video: the “Hebrew Language and the Dead Sea Scrolls” search for it in this blog. I am sure you will find it highly interesting and exciting.
Thank you Jay McCarl for this wonderful video.
