Western Wall Tunnels
JERUSALEM - the most famous city in the world.
When an archaeologist finds a new site he asks himself 3 questions:
Was there water here that could sustain a community?
Was there a strategic way to secure this place?
Was there a 'highway' (main commercial route) nearby that could support the livelihood of this community?
The answer for Jerusalem, for all 3 questions is NO.
Jerusalem, even in the time of David had two springs: the Gihon that flows into the Siloam Pool and the 2nd, smaller than the Gihon, is Ein Rogel and its location is in the valley, outside of the city walls. So the water of both these springs was not enough for Jerusalem to survive.
In the book of Psalms 125:2 it is mentioned "As the mountains surround Jerusalem...". We learn from that that Jerusalem was not very high if mountains surrounded the city. In the Bible in the book of Judges chapter 19 you can see that the slave asked the master, let's leave the main road to the city of Jebus...we can deduct from that that the city of Jebus was not located on the main route.
And despite 'NO' being the answer to all these 3 questions, Jerusalem has grown to be the most famous city in the World.
Nowadays, in the 21st century, we are digging the fascinating past of Jerusalem, and in this video, you are invited to watch some of these amazing findings.
