Hanukkah in the New Testament

Is it by chance that Hanukkah and Christmas are celebrated so close to each other?

Last year Christmas fell on the same day as the 1st candle of Hanukkah.

Hanukkah is referenced in the New Testament as “Festival of Dedication”. Also to note was that Jesus was born and raised as a Jew, and that can explain his affinity with the Jewish Holidays, as mentioned in John 10:22-23:

“Then came the Festival of Dedication at Jerusalem. It was winter, and Yeshua was in the temple courts walking Solomon’s colonnade.”

There are people who see the link between Hanukkah (festival of light) and Yeshua the Messiah who brought the light at that period; therefore, the link between the two.

It is just one opinion/explanation. There are others.

I wanted to share with you another perspective of Hanukkah. This video is taken right next to Temple Mt. The place where Hanukkah was celebrated after the Holy Temple was purified from the Greeks and re-dedicated (inaugurated).

There’s a little bit of Israel in all of us. Come find the Israel in you.
