Natan-Melech Seal found in the City of David
New archaeological discoveries in Jerusalem are practically a daily event. As I have already mentioned a few times in some of my posts, we have millions of years to excavate until we can find all or most of our roots that are still buried in the ground. And we’re only at the beginning. Thus, almost every day, we get a scoop of news from the past.
What is the Bible for us? First, it is the Holy Book with the 10 commandments and other rules and regulations. Secondly, it is an historical book. When we read the Bible we know it is true. It is further affirmed by archaeological excavations.
Recent diggings prove, beyond any doubt, the connection between the Bible and history. As an example, the recently found bulla of Natan-Melech, who is mentioned as one of the high officials of King Josiah.
King Josiah reigned during the beginning of the 7th century BCE (more than 2,700 years ago). This is one more finding, to many other (refer to links below) bullas that were discovered bearing names of people mentioned in the Bible. The house in which this bulla was found, was destructed probably during the Babylonian period when the 1st Holy Temple was destroyed.
Bear in mind that a bulla is something very very personal.
Dr Clifford Wilson, formerly director of the Australian Institute of Archaeology says: “I know of no finding in archaeology that’s properly confirmed which is in opposition to the Scriptures. The Bible is the most accurate history textbook the world has ever seen”.
I’d like to thank AllAboutJerusalem for this video.
