A short tour of ancient Jerusalem
As you well know, we as a nation, continue to excavate our roots and look for our ancestors all the time.
So this tour begins in the “Givati” Parking Lot exposing layers of civilization. There are many findings from the 1st Holy Temple period and some signs of the Babylonian Destruction in 586 BCE. Additionally, the “Hakra” Fortress from the Hasmonian Period. As well, many buildings and houses between the 1st and 2nd Holy Temple periods.
From there, we go under and enter a tunnel, directly under the Pilgrims Road (being excavated as we speak), that leads to Temple Mt. – in the corner of the Southern & Western Walls. There we can see some shops and other buildings built by Herod the Great, as part of his greater project of restructuring the Holy Temple.
This video gives you a vivid picture (just a small part of all the excavations) of ancient Jerusalem, the Holy Temple area, the Pilgrims Road, however, it cannot replace the once in a lifetime experience of actually walking through these places.
Thank you City of David for this video.
Enjoy the video.
